Ik kon het niet laten.  Zon of geen zon, ik heb gisteren toch nog even de film Shadows in the Sun bekeken.  Ik kon de mooie kleuren, de geweldige landschappen, de grappige dialogen en de romantische slotscène in een poëtische klaprozenveld niet weerstaan.  Ik was die ontroerende muziek in deze scène vergeten te vermelden gisteren.   

Ik bedoel 'Io che amo solo te' een romantisch, Italiaans liefdeslied uit de jaren zestig dat werd gezongen door Sergio Endrigo.  Zegt het niet alles ? Ja, ik geef het toe : 'I am sentimental.' *

Come rain or shine, I just had to watch the movie Shadows in the Sun again yesterday.  I couldn't resist the beautiful colors, the gorgeous scenery, the funny dialogs and the romantic end scene in a poetic poppy field.  I forgot to mention the moving music in this scene.  It gets to me every time.

I mean 'Io che amo solo te' a romantic, Italian love song from the sixties sung by Sergio Endrigo.  Doesn't this song say it all ?  Yes, I admit it : 'I am sentimental.' *

Summertime

Summertime !
Wat is er een mooiere wijze om de zomer in te zetten, dan te luisteren naar het zwoele stemgeluid van deze grote dame en haar interpretatie van Gershwin's Summertime.

Scent and Sensibility

Aspirant-herboristen in een mooi decor.

Vorig weekend stond in het teken van de recent opgefriste Dodoenstuin in Schilde (provincie Antwerpen).  De tuin is een reconstructie van de 16de eeuwse renaissancetuin met kruiden uit het 'Cruydeboeck' van Rembert Dodoens.


De Dodoenstuin is onderverdeeld in twaalf deeltuintjes, die allemaal volgens een ander patroon zijn aangelegd.  Dit paradijs is omgeven door torenhoge bomen en huist tientallen geneeskrachtige kruiden. Je waant je in een andere tijd.





Ik wandelde ook even naar de aangrenzende tuin met geurige keukenkruiden, cosmetische kruiden en verfkruiden.  Bij de lichtste aanraking van de planten werd ik bedwelmd door hun heerlijke geur.  Het grootste geschenk waren deze mooie klaprozen, een bloem uit mijn kinderjaren.  Plots herinnerde ik me hoe ik in de zomer speelde tussen de bloedrode klaprozen en de hemelsblauwe korenbloemen in de velden langs de spoorwegberm.
