Halle Halleluja

Beautiful British bluebells in the Hallerbos. Like stepping into an aquarel.
Ik voelde me echt vereerd.

I absolutely love sunken lanes.

Braamstruiken versperden echter onze weg.

Bedankt lieve vriendin !

Halle Halleluja
Beautiful views on our way up to the forest.

Thanks to a good friend I have discovered Hallerbos (Forest of Haller) beginning this month. Starting from her birthplace Dworp we walked to the forest and to her favorite tree. She showed me her past and her nostalgic feel. I felt really honored. The moment we walked into the forest, it felt as if we were entering a different world. The delicate smell and the pure beauty of thousands of flowering British bluebells (Hyacinthoides non-scripta) were overwhelming. Walking in this ancient primary forest became a mystical experience. We touched the trees and felt them vibrating in our hands. I have become an official 'tree hugger' now.

Looking up in the sunken pathway.

We walked through a magnificent sunken pathway and arrived at a spring. Blackberry bushes blocked our way. After we had boldly conquered the blackberry bushes our feet suddenly disappeared in the    marshy ground surrounding the spring. A very explicit message : 'Don't even think of going any further !' We respected that and didn't push any further.

In the following week Hallerbos was continuously on my mind. So I finally decided to bring my whole family there. It became this year's best Sunday afternoon up till now. During our walk I discovered even more plants like garlic mustard (Alliaria petiolata) and wild garlic (Allium ursinum). The forest is a real treat for nature lovers and herbalists. We all returned home feeling completely reborn. By the way, you can find the main entrance coming from Halle (near Brussels).
My son discovers the amazing world of the Dandelion.

In June we will go and see the beautiful sequoias. I think that we will often visit the Hallerbos in the coming years !
Thanks sweet friend !
